Stefon Diggs being absent from minicamp has Bills coach ‘very concerned’

Mandatory minicamp began Tuesday for the Buffalo Bills, but Stefon Diggs wasn’t there.
Minicamp is mandatory for players unless excused, and an unexcused absence can result in a fine. It’s unclear why Diggs didn’t show up, but coach Sean McDermott told reporters that everyone else was accounted for.

“Stef is not here,” McDermott told reporters. “Everybody else is here at the current time.”
When asked how concerned he was about Diggs’ absence, McDermott replied, “Very concerned. Very concerned,” but didn’t get into whether the absence was excused.
The 29-year-old also didn’t show up for OTAs — which are optional — and it’s not uncommon to see veteran players skip those.
The absence likely isn’t related to a contract dispute. Diggs signed a four-year, $96 million extension with the Bills last season and is one of the NFL’s top paid receivers.
The last time Diggs was on the field with Buffalo was in its AFC Divisional Round Game loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in January. He reportedly was upset after the Bills’ second straight loss that he “darted out of the locker room” before coaches even made their down the tunnel.
In March, he discussed on “The Shop” how he couldn’t believe Buffalo lost in the division round again.
If it means anything, Diggs reposted photos to his Instagram story Tuesday morning that his trainer Myron Flowers shared working with the three-time Pro Bowl select.
In 16 starts for the Bills last season, Diggs had 1,429 receiving yards with 11 touchdowns and 108 receptions.
