Stanton slams door on Bucs with walk-off grand slam

Stanton #Stanton

All it took to awaken the Yankees’ offense in a gigantic way was Aaron Judge’s historic 60th home run of the season. Judge did his part as the leadoff batter of the ninth inning, putting the Yankees within striking distance again and setting up the heroics of Giancarlo Stanton, who ended it with a walk-off grand slam for a raucous 9-8 victory in the Bronx on Tuesday night.

Just when it looked like the Yankees might go quietly after the Pirates scored four runs in the top of the eighth to take a four-run lead, Judge changed the tenor with one swing. Anthony Rizzo followed with a double, Gleyber Torres walked and Josh Donaldson singled before Stanton did the rest.

The Yankees did not record an out in the inning.
