Motherwell have been awarded two 3-0 Scottish Premiership wins and Hamilton Academical one after Covid-19 rule breaches by St Mirren and Kilmarnock.

Both admitted the violations and have been fined £40,000, suspended until 30 June, after an SPFL tribunal.

St Mirren and Kilmarnock infringed social distancing rules on buses and at meals, and players from the former also shared cars to and from training.

Both clubs say they are “disappointed” and are reviewing their position.

Kilmarnock are taking legal advice, while St Mirren insist they “operated honestly throughout the whole process”.

The Paisley club’s 17 October match at Motherwell and their meeting with Hamilton a week later – both of which were postponed – have been decreed as 3-0 wins for their opponents.

So has Motherwell’s 2 October game with Kilmarnock, which was also called off.

It means the Fir Park side move up to fifth in the Scottish Premiership, leapfrogging Kilmarnock, while bottom club Hamilton are now only behind St Mirren on goal difference.

An SPFL spokesman said they “commend both clubs for the measures recently put in place” to avoid a repeat of those postponements.
