St Kilda’s Seb Ross blasted after horror miss in front of goal against Sydney

St Kilda’s miserable year in front of goal has continued, with Seb Ross putting forward his contender for miss of the year.
With just seconds to go in the second term, Ross got out the back at a stoppage and broke away but missed from just outside the box.
“Out the back, Ross should kick a goal … and somehow misses,” stunned commentator Mark Howard said.
Former AFL forward Jonathon Brown said the miss continued the Saints woeful display in front of goal this year.
“This horrible accuracy continues on for St Kilda this year,” he said.
“The last month, 30 per cent accuracy, so more than two out of three you’re missing, and that’s just not good enough for AFL footballers.
“You should be aiming for two out of three, not to miss two out of three.”
St Kilda has kicked 9.14 in the loss to Essendon, 5.9 in the loss to St Kilda, 8.15 in the win over Gold Coast, 5.17 in the loss to Geelong and 12.16 in the win over North Melbourne so far this season.
But Ross wasn’t the only Saint to blame, with Jack Higgins wasting two chances to be the hero for St Kilda in the dying stages of a nine-point defeat to Sydney.
With the Saints trailing by less than a kick, Higgins twice took marks inside 50 metres in the final three minutes and missed his set shots.
He finished with 1.6 for the day as Lance Franklin helped set up James Rowbottom to kick the sealer for Sydney, who prevailed 13.14 (92) to 12.11 (83) at the SCG.
“We probably got away with it at the end,” Swans veteran Luke Parker told Fox Footy.
“They missed their goal kicks, but we had some big contests … so we’ll take it.”
