Collins averaged 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists over 63 games with the Spurs in 2022-23.

San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins has agreed to an extension, the team announced on Sunday.

It’s a two-year, $35 million deal, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Collins is the third San Antonio player to receive an extension ahead of the 2023-24 season, joining guards Devin Vassell and Tre Jones who reached agreements earlier in the offseason.

How we got here: The 25-year-old center has dealt with several ankle injuries since he first joined the Spurs at the start of the 2021-22 season when he played just 28 games. Collins spent his first four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers and was out for the entire 2020-21 season due to ankle surgeries. He played a career-best 77 games in his sophomore season (2018-19) with the Blazers.

Preseason performance: Collins played four of the Spurs’ five preseason matchups and averaged 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists.
