Kimesha Williams, the sister of the now-Clippers standout Kawhi Leonard, was convicted in February of first-degree murder, robbery and elder abuse in February, and received her sentence on Friday.

The older sister of former San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard has been given a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole for the killing of an elderly woman at a casino.

Kimesha Williams, the sister of the now-Clippers standout, was convicted in February of first-degree murder, robbery and elder abuse in February, and received her sentence on Friday.

Williams, 39, and Candace Townsell, 42, received the same conviction and sentence for the 2019 murder.

The two women followed 84-year-old Afaf Assad to a bathroom at the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, Calif., according to a report from the Mercury News. Williams then entered the bathroom while Townsell played lookout – she apparently even blocked a custodian from entering – while Williams apparently struck Assad in a way that fractured her skull, and Assad died four days later.

Assad was carrying a purse containing around $1,000 for gambling, and a witness who was in another stall testified that Williams and Townsell, after the incident, raced toward the casino’s exit and left.

Williams, who along with Townsell has a lengthy rap sheet for theft prior to the murder, has proclaimed her innocence via a statement read in court by her attorney.

“I am so sorry for your loss,” Williams’ statement read. “I have been praying for you and your family every day. I am not responsible for the death of Mrs. Assad. Although the courts have found me guilty of the charges, we all know the truth, and that there is one judge, and that is God, and that he knows the truth.”
