Filming wrapped on Marvel’s highly-anticipated superhero sequel Spider-Man: No Way Home over the weekend, with a farewell message from a crew member that has fans talking.

Stunt coordinator George J. Cottle shared a photo of the whiteboard featuring the Spider-Man: No Way Home title, which was used to unveil the title in February.

While the photo itself didn’t reveal much, he thanked one particular crew member which has fans speculating again that Tobey Maguire may return as his version of Peter Parker.

There have been rumors about both Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning as their respective Spider-Man characters for months, though nothing has been confirmed.

Maguire played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 between 2002 and 2007, and Garfield starred in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man and 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

While neither have been confirmed for Spider-Man: No Way Home, rumors have circulated for months, with Cottle’s post now adding more fuel to the fire when he thanked Chris Daniels, who served as Maguire’s stunt double in the original trilogy.

‘Thank you @tomholland2013 @zendaya @lifeisaloha @tonyrevolori for their friendship and hard work! And of course to my team! I am only ever as good as the people around me!!’ he added.

Daniels was among the many stuntmen Cottle listed, which has lead to fans wondering if he will serve as Maguire’s stuntman once again.

This also comes just days after William Spencer, the stunt double for Andrew Garfield, posted photos from the No Way Home set, alongside Tom Holland’s stunt double, though they were later deleted.

Still, despite the rumors and coincidence of two stunt doubles of former Spider-Man featured in the new movie, it doesn’t confirm Maguire and Garfield are returning.

Daniels has frequently worked for Marvel movies, serving as a stunt rigging coordinator on Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, along with other Marvel movies like Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Endgame.

Spencer, however, hasn’t worked with Marvel since, though he did work as a stunt performer on Tenet, where Daniels served as a stunt rigging coordinator.

The rumors of these previous Spider-Men joining the current Spider-Man are certainly viable, given that Spider-Man: Far From Home introduced the concept of the ‘multiverse,’ where there are several parallel universes besides just our own.

The most prevalent rumors are that both Maguire and Garfield’s Peter Parker characters simply exist in different worlds of the multiverse.

However, both Tom Holland and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige have both said multiple times that Maguire and Garfield are not returning.

Regardless, filming has now wrapped on Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is slated for release on December 14.

Benedict Cumberbatch also returns as Doctor Strange, before filming his own sequel, appropriately titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is currently in production.
