Brazil lead South Korea 4-0 at the half-time break of their 2022 World Cup round of 16 clash.
Vinicius Jr opened the scoring in the eighth minute of the game when he fired home from inside the penalty area. Neymar then added the second from the penalty spot, before Richarlison scored one of the goals of the tournament to make it three.
Lucas Paqueta got in on the act before the half-time break, volleying in Vinicius Jr’s lobbed assist.
Brazil are on course to play Croatia in the quarter-finals, after their victory over Japan earlier on Monday.

How far can Brazil go?
That was so much fun. There will be plenty of earnest sympathy for Son Heung-min and Co, but that’s a bit patronising at this stage: good World Cups need good Brazils, and this is a ridiculously evenly-endowed Brazil too.
Richarlison should have added a fifth – A FIFTH – before half-time there, and he’ll be (even more) furious not to have done. Expect a pedestrian second half now, but nobody will be talking about that tomorrow.

Four for Brazil
This is the first time Brazil have scored four goals in a World Cup game since their 4-1 win over Cameroon in the 2014 group stage.
The last time they scored four goals in a first half at the tournament? You have to go back quite a bit further for that:

Will Brazil get another?
Five minutes of injury time to for Brazil to score their fifth and final goal of this emphatic 5-1 win, if they want to.

Chance for Paqueta
45+1′ Brazil 4-0 South Korea
Paqueta gets the ball in the box and attempts to chip it over Kim Seung-gyu, but the goalkeeper is live to it – his first save of the night.
Five minutes are added on.

Brazil came ready to dance
Raphinha said so before the tournament: “We have some 10 dances prepared for each match, one for the first, one for the second, one for the third … If we score more than 10, then we’ll have to start innovating.”

Now that is a stat
Brazil have become the first team in history to score 0.41% of the name of a stadium in a first half of a World Cup knockout game.

Training ground stuff
Vinicius breaks down the right side and loops a tall cross into the box. Paqueta arrives late and gently volleys it towards the far corner. This is sublime stuff by Brazil.

Picking nits
It’s not all rosy for Brazil right now, though: that shade of green on their kit is a genuine disgrace.
Could ultimately overshadow the “Hexa”, let’s face it.

Jogo bonito
An unreal goal. This is the most effortless, joyful footballing evisceration I’ve seen for a while.
Richarlison channeled his inner Kerlon before some delightful geometry sliced the Korean defence apart. Could be the most cumulative dancing ever seen on a football pitch tonight.

What a goal!
Richarlison takes three touches with his head and turns magnificently to elude his defender.
He combines with Marquinhos and Silva, brilliant one-touch passing all around, and gets the ball back alone in front of goal, where he coolly slots it into the far corner.
That could be curtains for South Korea already.
Brazil scored three goals in the whole group stage – they’ve equaled that in half an hour here.

Brazil in full control
Brazil haven’t given Korea a sniff here. Their back…seven, really, are such a formidable unit, both on paper and in the flesh.
Brazil vs pretty much anybody in the latter stages is going to be a genuine spectacle. This might not be quite as compelling for the next hour.

If South Korea are to come back…
I have consulted my analytics dashboards, crunched some numbers from all previous World Cups, taken into account the weather conditions in Doha and even deployed the eye test: I can confirm the next goal is crucial here.

South Korea have a mountain to climb
I’m typing away, about a 15-minute jog from New Malden – Greater London’s “Little Korea”.
Did think about soaking up the atmosphere with my laptop in my favourite restaurant, but I’m now glad I saved myself the trip.
If Paulo Bento’s boys come back from this, I’m a Dutchman.
