Sources: Whittaker undergoes Plymouth Argyle medical today after Rangers bid rejected
Morgan Whittaker #MorganWhittaker
Swansea City attacker Morgan Whittaker is having a medical at Plymouth on Monday after they beat Rangers to his signature, sources have told Football Insider.
The Championship new boys have agreed a deal to bring their former loan star back to Home Park.
Rangers had multiple bids for Whittaker rejected in January and their interest continued into the summer window.
But Plymouth have now reached a full agreement with the player and a deal is set to be completed imminently.
Last month (8 June), Football Insider revealed that the Gers had re-entered the race to sign the 22-year-old alongside Coventry City, Plymouth and Sunderland.
The winger’s current deal at Swansea runs until 2025 after joining in 2021 but spent the first half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Home Park.
Whittaker made 31 appearances across all competitions for The Pilgrims during his half-season spell at the club and was in the starting lineup for 19 of those outings, netting nine goals and offering up seven assists.
Rangers attempted to sign the attacker in January but were unable to strike a deal but have maintained their interest in the Swansea star throughout the season.
The Glasgow giants have been looking for reinforcements
This summer Michael Beale has pushed ahead with adding several attacking assets to his squad with Sam Lammers joining from Atalanta, Abdallah Sima on loan from Brighton and Cyriel Dessers arrived on a permanent deal from Cremonese.
In other news, Sheffield Wednesday are plotting to sign former Rangers star striker.
