Harry Souttar is set to stay at Leicester City despite interest from Leeds United, sources have told Football Insider.

As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday (1 February), Leeds explored a last-gasp move for Foxes defender Souttar.

The 25-year-old centre-back also received interest from Premier League side Sheffield United, but sources say that he is now expected to stay at the King Power Stadium for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

Whites boss Daniel Farke has been eager to add to his defensive department throughout the January window but looks set to miss out on his top targets.

The Yorkshire club failed with a loan move for Ben Godfrey earlier in the window with the Everton defender also set to stay put at Goodison Park.

Souttar has struggled to settle at Leicester following his £15million move to the club from Stoke City in January 2023.

He has made just 16 appearances for the Foxes in all competitions, including just four this season.

Leicester boss Enzo Maresca has often left Souttar out of his matchday squad entirely in the 2023-24 season with his last appearance coming in their 3-0 win over Rotherham in December.

Leeds are currently trying to catch the Foxes in the Championship table, with the Whites currently 12 points adrift from the league leaders in fourth.

Farke’s side boast an impressive defensive record with 26 league goals conceded in 29 matches, but his defensive options are thin following an injury to Pascal Struijk.
