Social media reacts to Notre Dame walk-on scoring game-tying touchdown

Notre Dame #NotreDame

As far as Notre Dame walk-ons go, it’s gonna be tough to top Rudy Ruettiger in terms of notoriety. But it’s a lot easier to pass Ruettiger in on-field performance if you have a chance to play. Jordan Faison got that chance in the second quarter against Louisville, and he came up at a big time. Two plays after making his first collegiate catch, he caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Sam Hartman to tie the game:

Whatever happens the rest of this game, Faison will have this moment forever. Not everyone in his position has this particular opportunity, and he made the most of his. If he has a few more plays like this, he’ll be listed on the depth chart every week. Not bad for someone whose main sport is lacrosse.

While Faison is waiting, he can read these and other reactions that were posted to social media after his touchdown:

From my 40 preseason predictions: “Current walk-on Jordan Faison will log a stat at some point this season. On a lacrosse scholarship, he is too athletic to not see some playing time. It may be a catch, it may be a special teams tackle. For reference: No. 80.”*green check emoji*

Walk-on WR Jordan Faison just burned the Louisville secondary for a tying touchdown. Recruited to the school for lacrosse. This is his first game of the season. Wow.

If Jordan Faison’s best sport is lacrosse, then the Irish are going to be scary good coming off a national title in that sport.

Welcome to college football Jordan Faison! The walk-on WR with two big grabs on the drive, including a 36-yard TD.

I guarantee he was NOT in Louisville’s scouting report.
