Arsenal and England legend Tony Adams will be a guest on Strictly Come Dancing this year, and social media was quick to point out examples why they think he will struggle on the popular show.

Known as a fierce and competitive defender on the field during his iconic career, he will now be looking to make moves off the pitch when he takes to the dance floor on the BBC show later this year.

While regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation, his style and flair on the pitch weren’t particularly graceful.

Once the announcement was made, social media reacted in excitement with the news, though hopes were not high for the 55-year-old to win the show.

It didn’t long for a bizarre training video, which went viral when he was at Granada, to re-emerge online.

It shows him waving his hands around as he tries to get the message across to his players, then making some more wild arm movements as he runs back and forth.

Alex Dunne wrote: ‘If his dancing is anything like that Spanish training video we’re in for a treat.’

Football fans also pointed out to the famous moment that he dropped mate Steve off his shoulders as they celebrated their 1993 League Cup final victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Adams, who made the fumble when he was in peak physical condition as a player, broke Morrow’s arm as his team-mate reached out to prevent himself from being dropped onto his head.

Darren Walsh shared the photo of the incident which shows Morrow holding out his arms to stop him from falling on his head, with the caption: ‘What could go wrong?’

Martin Ross added: ‘Is his partner Steve Morrow? Don’t let him do any lifts. (If you know, you know).’

Arsenal fans were quick to react with one writing: ‘I expect our fanbase to help him go far through the series.’

Another made reference to Arsenal’s double winning seasons with Adams, which saw them win the Premier League and FA Cup in 1997-98 and 2001-02, as they wrote: ‘From the double to the doble.’
