Soccer AM axed by Sky after nearly 30 years

Soccer AM, a staple of Saturday morning programming for almost 30 years, will be axed by Sky Sports at the end of the season.

Staff of the show, which is hosted by John “Fenners” Fendley and the former footballer Jimmy Bullard, were told on Tuesday that the programme would end in the summer, with the final episode due to be screened on May 27, the day before the Premier League season finishes. A consultation period with staff over redundancies has started.

A Sky spokesman said: “Soccer AM has played an important role in our coverage of football for the past three decades and we continually adapt to the evolving needs of our customers.
