Mrs. Betty Joyce Smith, age 87, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at a local assisted living facility. Mrs. Smith was born in Lindale, Georgia on June 25, 1933, daughter of the late Hayden O. Smith and the late Ava Feazell Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Aaron Smith, Sr., and by two brothers, Harold and Horace Smith. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Lindale. Prior to retirement, Mr. Smith worked at Greenwood Mills in Lindale. Survivors include a daughter, Debra Kay Bobo (Danny), Silver Creek; two sons, Stephen Eugene Smith (Leigh Ann), Forsyth, and William A. “Bill” Smith, Jr. (Michelle), Rome; five grandchildren, Hannah Smith, Seattle, WA, Sarah Smith, Seattle, WA, Danny L. Bobo, Jr. (Kristy), Smyrna, Kaleigh Smith, Rome, and Hayden Smith, Rome; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Rev. David Tillery officiating. Private interment will be later in Floyd Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 1pm until 2:45pm. Social distancing measures will be followed, and masks are requested. Honorary pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday at 2:30pm and include; Wayne Smith, Danny Bobo, Sr., Danny Bobo, Jr., Trent Vincent, Daniel Smith, and Kenny Smith. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
