MARTIN COUNTY — Fire Rescue crews on Saturday contained a brush fire to less than 2 acres at Seabranch Preserve State Park, according to spokesperson Cory Pippin.
What happened: A brush fire sparked around 6 p.m. Saturday in a heavily-wooded area between the Seabranch Preserve State Park and The Oaks community, about 10 miles south of Stuart on Southeast Dixie Highway.
Fire rescue response: Eight firefighters responded with a ladder truck and a fire engine and spent about less than two hours containing and stopping the blaze.

Not a threat: Despite strong winds and dry brush acting as fuel, firefighters were able to stop the blaze before it threatened any nearby structures. The cause, while unknown, appeared to be accidental, Pippin said via text.
