The Philadelphia 76ers are sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference, but depending on who you ask, they may not be the frontrunner to reach the NBA Finals in the East.
That is due to the fact that the Brooklyn Nets are led by a dynamic trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden. Those three talented players alone will make them a formidable team to handle when the playoffs roll around in May and June.
They have since added Blake Griffin and then on Saturday, they added another former All-Star in LaMarcus Aldridge. The Nets brought him on after the San Antonio Spurs bought him out and the 7-time All-Star is just another weapon added to their arsenal.
(function (d, s, n) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; js = d.createElement(s); js.className = n; js.src = “//player.ex.co/player/d8b9c085-4226-44f1-8495-36ad4e2aa62d”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘exco-player’));
However, the Sixers have a lot of firepower on their end as well. Led by Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris, they have the looks of a team that will make a deep run into the playoffs and give the Nets a helluva battle if they do, in fact, match up.
“I don’t worry about it, to be honest,” said coach Doc Rivers. “We’re kind of worried about ourselves and that’s all we can do. We like our team. We like who we are. We like how we play. So I don’t give it a lot of thought.”
The Sixers should be a confident bunch. They are 32-13 despite still having to work out some kinks amongst the group, they are 6-1 since Embiid went down with the bone bruise, and the team is getting better on a nightly basis.
While the Nets are certainly going to be a pretty strong group, the Sixers feel like they should be the ones to worry about in the East.
