Noel Gallagher wants to build a room at his countryside manor specifically to play boardgames in.

The former Oasis rocker has lodged plans to build the wooden games shack at his £8 million mansion in the South Downs National Park near Petersfield, Hants.

The star is famously a huge fan of board games who would relentlessly play Frustration on tour and had MB Games make a special version for the band.

He even said the game is the reason the band split up as his hothead brother Liam hated losing.

Liam and Noel would often row over the matches which usually had money placed on them.

Noel and wife Sara MacDonald bought the 18th century country manor for £8 million last year with a a swimming pool, tennis court and croquet lawn. They have also recently had plans approved to build a state-of-the-art woodland gym

Now the 53-year-old is building this , 50-square-feet, stand-alone games hut with a toilet and a verandah in the woods near his mansion.

Plans show the building would be more than four metres high, and made of special cedar wood.

The planning regulations in South Downs, near Petersfield, Hants, are particularly strict but Noel submitted his proposal to the South Downs National Park Authority last month.

It argues: ‘Careful consideration has been given to the appearance of the proposed building and materials to complement the other outbuildings on the site would be used.

‘The outbuilding retains a subservience to the dwelling on the site and its appearance is appropriate to the rural location.’

An arboricultural expert has found there are significant trees near the site, and special care will have to be taken during building not to damage them.

However it seems like the Don’t Look Back In Anger hitmaker will get the green light as conservation officer Peter Fellows gave no objection to the plans.

He said: ‘The proposed outbuilding would be largely screened from views from the listed dwelling by trees.

‘Therefore, due to the screening available and the distance the building is set from the dwelling I believe the scheme would currently not cause any harm to the setting of the house.’

Noel told Matt Morgan’s Funny How? Podcast about the history of playing Frustration with Liam, 47, in Oasis.

‘It would always end in violence,’ Noel said.

‘I was up about a grand at one point on tour.

‘He always accused me that somehow, before the game had started, I had unscrewed the glass dome and put grease on the dice.

‘It’s a complete game of random – it’s in the lap of the gods.

‘I was winning far too much for him to handle so he accused me of cheating – f***ing rigging the game.

‘Would I rig a game of Frustration?

‘When the band split, I took the Frustration.’

The games room appears to be only a part of his overall masterplan as he has already had approved plans for a state-of-the-art woodland gym, despite the property already having a swimming pool, tennis court and croquet lawn.

Noel and wife Sara MacDonald, 48, bought the 18th century country manor for £8 million last year.

The Britpop superstar has an estimated £50 million fortune from Oasis – who are one of the biggest selling British bands of all time.

He wrote eight UK number one singles and albums, however split after falling out with brother Liam.
