Even in the hardest of games, you get something that helps you overcome a painful journey. Sifu has a few ways it helps you become stronger, and make it easier to move from one level to the next. With patience, allocating points to the right areas, and honing in on your Kung fu, you should be successful.

Shrines are one thing that can boost your strength. In three categories with nine options total, shrines let you gain one upgrade per shrine permanently for a run, until you fail without completing the level. If you choose wisely, it can greatly make a difference to your chances of outliving your opponents.

Updated by Tristan Zelden on April 3, 2023: Sifu has had plenty of changes since its launch, including coming to Xbox after being available to PC, PlayStation, and Switch players. We have also altered the information display for the cost and category of each of the shrine rewards. This way, it looks cleaner and easier to read for you to know which rewards you should prioritize.

Focus Reserve

If you make an argument for any of the shrine abilities, it’s tough to vouch for Focus Reserve. It gives you half a focus bar, which is used for certain skills that you can unlock.

Focus generates via parrying or dealing damage, meaning you will regain it naturally as you play. So there is no point in spending your experience points here, when you can spend it on skills or other rewards.

Weapon Durability

Weapon durability does exactly what it sounds like; it makes your weapon more durable. Weapons have a decent lifespan in Sifu. You can go through plenty of enemies before they break.

It can be handy to put a point into weapon durability as weapons make the game significantly easier. For some bosses, it is best to go in with something in hand if you can find it. That said, your best bet is to build on your structure, focus, and damage. Making that bat last longer might be nice, but it would have been better to upgrade something else.

Rejuvenate

1,000 XP

The core idea of Sifu’s mechanics is the aging system. Die and go up a year, with each year determined by how many times you’ve died. Die three times, go up three years. Rejuvenate lets you recover five years off that amount of deaths.

For early players or people who never fully developed enough skills, you can help yourself by opting for this reward; however, it is pricey with 1,000 experience points, which would have been better spent on a skill. Still, this will be a lifesaver when in a bind with a high death count, but not a go-to for every run.

Weapon Proficiency

Whether you prefer using a weapon at every chance or only for a specific situation, weapon proficiency is a wise choice if there are plenty of weapons lying around.

It makes all weapons pack a harder punch. While it helps take out regular foes easily, it can help you whither away a boss’ health and structure quicker, if you can bring a weapon into the ring. Since bosses typically need to get brought down from full structure, you need to stack everything in your favor to fill that bar up.

Parry Impact

If you are good at racking up a high combo and increasing your score, parry impact can be reasonably obtainable. Its high cost is worth it as it makes your parrying more effective to tear down someone’s structure.

Parrying is not easy for everyone. It takes skill, and is the central aspect that will lead you to success or failure in the brawler. If you feel confident in this area, though, you should make it a priority when you come across a shrine.

Structure Reserve

With a max age of 60, you have a lot of room when you want to increase your structure reserve. When you do, your maximum structure is increased.

The downside is that some enemies shred your structure. So, even if you have a lot, they can still take you down with specific attacks or combos. It is best not to go all-in on this one, but you’ll want to invest at least a bit to give you that additional security. Having extra structure could mean life or death.

Focus Regain

Increase the focus you regain when you dodge or parry an attack with this reward. A must-have, as it can change the game if used properly.

Most of the skills related to focus either stun your opponent or knock them to the ground. That opens them up to an additional hit or a combo for extra damage. When it comes to bosses, focus attacks become a lifesaver and can make the fight go by quicker. Spend your experience on these specific skills, and your score on this reward.

Structure Regain

Regain even more structure when you dodge or parry. Another must-have to grab when you reach a shrine, this reward will keep you in the ring a little longer as you build up your enemy’s structure.

This vital reward perfectly accompanies focus regain. Create a cocktail of structure and focus regeneration when you dodge or parry to up your power. Once you get the rhythm down, you will have both of these important components refilling like clockwork, making for a game-changing experience.

Health Gained On Takedowns

It’s one thing to rejuvenate, but healing in the middle of combat is another. This reward locks off when you are over 40, but it if you grab it before that, you regain health after performing a successful takedown. When you fill a person’s structure, the game gives you a button prompt, resulting in a cinematic takedown.

Sifu has some big fights where you have loads of enemies coming toward you. At that moment, you need to make sure your health and structure are in order. For health, you will need to make sure you utilize the takedowns to stay in decent shape for the next level.
