Dothan police are trying to sort out who drove a vehicle into a group of people Monday night, touching off a wild, chaotic scene were several were injured.

According to police, the incident happened about 8:40 p.m. in the 700 block of Tuskegee Street at Martin Homes.

Officers were called to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle and found one victim on the ground, with lower leg injuries.

The vehicle, which they found unoccupied, had also struck the front porch of an apartment.

According to police, the vehicle was intentionally driven by a woman into a crowd, striking as many as three victims, one of whom was holding a 1-year-old child at the time. The child was uninjured in the incident.

Two victims, beside the injured pedestrian, were taken to the hospital by personal vehicle before police arrived.

The injuries to all three struck by the vehicle appear to be minor, police said.

While tending to the victim, police say a crowd grew and surrounding the scene, growing disorderly and causing officers to divert their attention away from the victim. As this unfolded, a woman tried to remove items from the vehicle.

When officers told her not to, police say she charged at them and was arrested.

Ariyan Tranice McCoy, 19, of Dothan, was charged with obstructing a government operation, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence and third degree criminal mischief for damage police say she did to the patrol car, just before she was pepper sprayed.

At the same time, police said several shots were fired in the area, adding to the disorder.

Dothan police said investigators are working to identify the driver of the vehicle and the person who fired the shots.
