Strictly: Shirley says she’s ‘used to booing’

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have been left concerned about Shirley Ballas after her comments in the semi-finals.

The head judge led the critiques for the final five dancers who are fighting for a place in next week’s final, but many fans thought her comments were more “depressing” than usual.

The professional dancer was booed by the audience after her firm feedback to Will Mellor and his partner Nancy Xu, which Craig Revel Horwood agreed with.

She appeared unfazed by the situation, as she said: “I’m used to booing after 55 years.”

Later when giving comments to Hamza Yassin, she once again addressed the audience’s reaction and added: “Let’s learn, let’s hear, we can’t just give tens out if it’s not right.”

While resident harsh judge Craig has held back his ten panel this series, fans were surprised by Shirley’s “tone” and wondered if she was OK.

“Is Shirley ok today?,” one viewer said on Twitter, as another asked: “What the hell is wrong with Shirley tonight?”

A third suggested: “If Shirley had been giving out these critiques throughout the series, we wouldn’t be left with this depressing semi-final judging.”

“Shirley is choosing chaos today,” another added as a fifth agreed: “Seriously though, who pissed off Shirley today???? She’s been in a mood the whole show.”

“Did Shirley fall out of bed this morning. She doesn’t seem happy with them all tonight,” another concerned viewer said.

Viewers suggested that Shirley was “off” throughout the show as she gave harsher criticism than normal

And another agreed: “Her tone is off.”

However, some fans were happy to see Shirley continuing to educate and correct the celebrities even in some of their final performances.

One viewer praised: “I prefer this side of Shirley… constructive criticism mixed with positives!”
