Sheffield Wednesday boss breaks silence on Jordan Rhodes after Cardiff City contact and Huddersfield links

Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore has spoken about Jordan Rhodes’ future after Cardiff City made contact over signing the striker back in January.
At the end of the winter window, with Robert Glatzel having already signed for Bundesliga outfit Mainz until the end of the season, Mick McCarthy sought to bolster his striking options.
WalesOnline understands that the Bluebirds touched base with the Owls over potentially signing Rhodes.
A deal never came to fruition and Cardiff seemingly turned their attentions to former Bluebird Cameron Jerome, however that deal collapsed because MK Dons could not find a suitable replacement in the allotted time.
However, it is understood that Rhodes, who has also been linked with a move to Huddersfield Town, would be interested in a move to the Welsh capital, should a transfer opportunity resurface, with the player out of contract at the end of the season.
But when pressed on Rhodes’ situation, Owls boss Moore would not be drawn on speculation.

“At the moment all the players have a role to play,” Moore told our sister title ExaminerLive. “Even though contracts are up, despite what may come. They’re all contracted.
“I’m going to stick with the facts. He’s our player and he’s a good player. He’s got a huge part to play.”
Rhodes has mainly been used off the bench for the Owls this term, starting only six of his 24 Championship appearances.
He scored two goals in three games back in February, but it has largely been a barren season for the striker, whose only other goal of the campaign came on the opening day against the Bluebirds.
But Moore, who is looking to lift his side out of a slump which has seen them endure six defeats in a row and drop to 23rd in the table, has said he is really pleased with how the striker is faring.
“I’ve worked with him before and I know what he can do,” Moore added.
“He has wonderful composure in terms of goals and so on. I’m really pleased with him, and the whole group.
“They have to keep raising that level of commitment.”
