The Pogues star Shane MacGowan sadly died on Thursday, after battling with various health issues over the years. The 65-year-old’s wife Victoria Mary Clarke shared a snap of the couple on their wedding day to mark their fifth anniversary reports the Mirror.
Taking to social media, the wife of the late star wrote: “One of my favourite pictures of our wedding which was five years ago today. Getting to Copenhagen was quite an achievement and I suppose just getting through some of the stuff that we all went through to get to be still alive was a massive achievement!
“It was a beautiful thing to feel so much love from everyone who made it possible, a wedding is very much a collaboration.”

In the sweet pictures, Victoria can be seen laughing in a red dress whilst she holds a bouquet. Shane can be seen sitting beside her, leaning in for a kiss, dressed smartly in a blue suit teamed with a black hat.
The couple married in an intimate wedding surrounded by their close friends and family. More than 8,000 fans of the late singer liked her post, with many replying messages of love.
One person wrote: “God bless you for many years more.” And another said: “Happy anniversary a few days late.”
News of The Fairytale of New York singer’s death was announced today by his wife, alongside a black and white picture of Shane holding a glass and a cigarette which was taken during the singer’s younger years.
Victoria captioned the post saying: “I don’t know how to say this so I am just going to say it. Shane who will always be the light that I hold before me and the measure of my dreams and the love of my life and the most beautiful soul and beautiful angel and the sun and the moon and the start and end of everything that I hold dear has gone to be with Jesus and Mary and his beautiful mother Therese.
