Seville first in world to categorise and name heatwaves

Seville has become the first city in the world to categorise and name heatwaves. The Spanish city is taking part in a pilot project in an effort to raise awareness of the health hazards caused by extreme heat and to highlight the precautions citizens should take. Experts behind the project, called proMETEO Sevilla, hope that by naming the most severe heatwaves they will save lives.
