Severe weather possible overnight; Sunday cool & dry
Good Sunday #GoodSunday
(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good evening and happy Saturday! It has been quite a wet and stormy day across the Carolinas, with even some severe storms during the afternoon and evening. More is potentially on the way overnight before drier weather finally moves in for Sunday. The start of next week looks dry and cool for the region, with temperatures around average in the low 50s. More showers are possible, though, once we get to the middle of the week.
As for tonight, more rain and thunderstorms are expected as we go through the evening and overnight hours, with some of these storms potentially being severe. Strong and damaging winds are the primary concern with these storms, with perhaps an isolated tornado. The wet weather should wrap up by dawn Sunday, with cooler temperatures moving in with highs in the upper 50s. In the mountains, though, we are tracking snow throughout the day, with a few inches possible for the area ski resorts.
Heading into the new week, we are expecting a return to reality with our temperatures, with highs throughout the week being in the low 50s and a few freezes expected as well. Rain chances will be a lot more muted, with only a few showers possible on Wednesday. There could be another storm system next Friday, but details are still fuzzy at the moment.
In the meantime, enjoy the great sleeping weather tonight and get ready for cooler weather to return on Sunday. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
