Facing Bayern Munich will be a special encounter for Nelson Semedo, not only due to the magnitude of the fixture but because the full-back will be playing in the city where he was born and raised.
The Lisbon native looks set to occupy the right side of Barcelona’s defence against the much fancied Bavarians, in a clash that he is relishing.
“We know how [Bayern] set out and how they play from the back, we will be attentive,” he told UEFA.
“First of all, we will focus on ourselves and on playing the best possible game with the ball and scoring goals.
“If we play well we will have a chance of going through to the semi final.”
Speaking of his home city, Semedo could only speak positively.
“Lisbon is very good in every way: the people, the colours, the language, the architecture,” he said.
“It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, not only in Europe.
“Besides, the climate is very good too. It is a spectacular city.
“I started playing football in the streets of Lisbon, with my neighbours and kids older than me.
“It will be a special match, it was in Lisbon where it all started and I was very happy at Benfica.”
