Seahawks coach Pete Carroll on what makes Daniel Jones dangerous

The Seahawks should be able to take care of business tonight on the road against the Giants. However, as they learned the hard way in Week 1, if you take any team lightly in this league you can wind up getting embarrassed. Head coach Pete Carroll is aware that New York has enough talent in the backfield to pull off an upset even without Saquon Barkley.

Here’s what Carroll had to say about Giants quarterback Daniel Jones earlier this week, per Bob Condotta at the Seattle Times.

“He’s big and strong and can throw the ball all over the place, but it’s the running that really makes him really a difficult guy to play against. I’m going to have to figure out how to control that to some extent, but he pretty much can get out on everybody. He’s fast and big and strong enough to kind of pull out of tackles and things like that, so man, he’s dangerous.”

Heading into tonight’s game, Jones has thrown for 562 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. While those aren’t numbers to write home about – as Carroll mentions – Jones is a potent rushing threat. He’s added another 107 yards and a touchdown on just 24 carries.

Mobile quarterbacks can give any defense trouble – just observe what Lamar Jackson did yesterday to a brilliant Browns defense. Defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt will have to have a gameplan to contain Jones in the pocket.
