Scammer lists woman’s occupied apartment for rent online: Chagrin Falls police blotter

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio –
Suspicious, Hamlet Hills:
Someone listed a woman’s apartment for rent on Airbnb. The victim reported to police April 23 that a strange woman showed up stating she rented the apartment. It was determined that this was a miscommunication with Air BNB. The involved parties requested a police report be sent to Airbnb.
Fraud, South Street:
A resident filed a fraud report April 19. The fraud involved PayPal and the online Zell app.
Identity fraud, Ridgewood Road:
After receiving approval notices for credit cards he did not apply for, a man filed a police report April 21. The victim cancelled the credit cards prior to filing the police report.
Harassment, North Main Street:
A woman reported on April 19 that her ex-boyfriend is harassing her. She wanted the situation to be documented and provided contact information for the ex-boyfriend.
Traffic stop, Chagrin Boulevard:
An officer on patrol stopped a driver for incorrect display of license plates April 19. The driver also had marijuana. The officer gave the driver a warning for the equipment violation and seized the marijuana for destruction.
Traffic stop, Chagrin River Road:
After stopping a vehicle for a traffic violation April 24, an occupant was found to have an outstanding warrant from Kent police. The subject, a Mentor man, was arrested and turned over to authorities in Kent.
