After announcing she’ll be joining the team over at KENS 5, veteran San Antonio TV journalist Isis Romero is adding another title to her resume, literally. On Wednesday, May 11, Romero announced in a Facebook post that she graduated with her master’s degree from Arizona State University’s prestigious Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

“Going back to school has always been a dream of mine,” she writes in her post. “During the pandemic, I decided to go for it.”

After 18 months, the beloved San Antonio TV personality accomplished her goal. Romero posted photos in her cap and gown alongside her husband and fellow KENS 5 journalist Phil Anaya, along with a group photo. She ended her post with words of encouragement for folks who have been contemplating about taking risks in life or that next step to achieve success.

“It’s never too late to learn something new, reach your dreams, and keep pushing forward!”

Romero recently announced she’d be the new face and main anchor of KENS 5’s 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. This comes after her departure from KSAT 12 in July 2021 after more than a decade with San Antonio’s ABC affiliate. Now, she is preparing to rejoin the airwaves with a new team.

“I’m thrilled to be joining a news organization with such a profound commitment to family and community,” Romero says in a press statement she released in April. “It is an honor to represent KENS 5 on the evening anchor desk and continue their legacy of excellence.”

Romero’s first day on air is slated for June 6.
