San Antonio fans, haters sound off after Spurs end historic losing streak

Spurs #Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs are champions once again. Not really, but the Alamo City team did mark the end of a lengthy losing streak after overcoming the Utah Jazz on Tuesday, February 28. Perhaps surprisingly, Spurs fans had a variety of reactions following the win.

Dedicated (no, really) Spurs fans took to Twitter soon after the Tuesday night win to share their excitement.

Others aired out their theories about the team’s performance this season. A number of fans chattered about the Spurs going after Victor Wembanyama, a 19-year-old French basketball player projected to be the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.

As is the case with most sports, many Twitter users simply talked smack. Some even appeared to be Spurs fans.

We can only hope that the Spurs fans hoping for more losses have the NBA Draft in mind. Teams with poorer season records have better opportunities during the draft, allowing them to secure more talented rookies and better their roster. It was following the Spurs’ horrendous 1996-97 season that the San Antonio team was able to draft the great Tim Duncan, who went on to play 19 seasons in the Alamo City and become an NBA Hall of Famer.

They say the rest is history, but the Spurs are in a bit of pickle this season. Only time will tell if head coach Gregg Popovich and the rest of the Spurs camp will bring in a star for the ages this NBA Draft.
