Sainz on terrible start: ‘Nothing I could’ve done differently’

Sainz #Sainz

A struggle weekend for Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz saw the Spaniard stuck in the gravel on the first lap after getting tangled with the Mclaren of Daniel Ricciardo.

Sainz’s horrible start at the Emelia Romagna Grand Prix saw him facing backwards and in the gravel after just turn two. This follows a similarly disasterous start at the Australian Grand Prix saw him retire from the race on the second lap, and a crash in Quaifying saw him have to start from 10th in the Sprint Race.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the Grand Prix, the Spaniard explained, “I didn’t get the best of starts. We need to analyse what happened at the start. We still managed to get cleanly to turn two and for some reason Daniel went into the kerb. He must have lost the front of the car and an unlucky situation to get stuck in the gravel, nothing I could’ve done differently.”

After a horible string of bad luck and incidents the past two Grand Prix weekends, Sainz is certainly left scratching his head. “It’s very bad. It’s a tough moment. It’s bad, but there is always these tough moments in a sportsman and today it’s my turn to go through them. As long as I keep working hard, i am sure the good moments will come,”
