SAINTS confirmed they have offered a new contract to goalkeeper Willy Caballero, while talks “remain ongoing” with veteran striker Shane Long.
Caballero was parachuted in as emergency cover for the St Mary’s side last season, after goalkeepers Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster picked up injuries in December.
He played four times for the St Mary’s side in all competitions, twice in the Premier League and twice in the FA Cup.
Long signed for Saints for a reported £12million in August 2014 and has since gone on to make 244 appearances for the south coast side.
He has scored 37 goals in his Saints career and also registered 27 assists.
The forward came off the bench for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side during their Premier League season finale last month, playing the final seven minutes.
Saints have confirmed their retained list for the 2021-22 season, with Fraser Forster and Harry Lewis departing to join Tottenham and Bradford City on free transfers respectively.
They also confirmed Alex McCarthy and Jack Stephens signed new deals previously, before the announcement of the retained list.
