Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney announced on Monday that they have completed a takeover of fifth-tier soccer club Wrexham.

The pair’s offer to purchase the Welsh side was approved by over 90% of the Wrexham Supporters Trust. They plan to chart Wrexham’s rise under their ownership in a Netflix-style documentary.

“We want to be at the Racecourse Ground as much as possible – as many games as I can make,” Reynolds told the Supporters Trust earlier in November, as quoted by The Guardian. “We want to have a pint with the fans. You’ll be fed up of us! We want to be great ambassadors for the club, to introduce the club to the world and be a global force.”

Wrexham, who play in the English football pyramid, have never played higher than the second division. The Red Dragons created history in the FA Cup, the world’s oldest national football competition, when they reached the quarterfinals of the 1977-78 season and famously eliminated Arsenal in the third round in 1992.

Wrexham fell out of England’s top four professional leagues in 2008 and haven’t returned since.

Numerous international players have featured for Wrexham, including Ian Rush, Mickey Thomas, Ben Foster, Neil Taylor, Jonathan Walters, and Frank Sinclair.

The club had been supporter-owned since 2011. That takeover occurred during serious financial problems for the North Walian outfit.
