Christmas #Christmas

Marks & Spencer has released another star-studded Christmas advert for their food department, featuring Welcome to Wrexham’s Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Festive adverts have already started hitting our TV screens with Michael Bublé appearing in Asda’s and Graham Norton representing Waitrose in their TV spot.

Marks & Spencer’s clothing Christmas ad, which launched yesterday (November 1), featured an all-star British cast including Hannah Waddingham, Tan France, Zawe Ashton, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

And today, the supermarket launched their food Christmas advert featuring Wrexham football club co-chairmen Reynolds and McElhenney as anthropomorphic mittens named Left and Right.

First seen on Thursday’s episode of This Morning as part of the ITV show’s six-part advert series, the adorable ad begins with Dawn French’s Festive Fairy casting a spell with her magic wand, bringing the snow-covered reindeer mittens to life.

“I got snow right up my…” Left, voiced by McElhenney, cheekily jokes before Reynolds’ Right introduces the pair to the Fairy.

When asked what they were doing discarded in the snow, Right explains: “Picture a little girl – let’s call her Lilly – on a family trip across the pond.

“Picture a cold night and a loose backpack. Picture Lilly’s tears knowing she may never again feel the warmth of our polyester knit.”

The Fairy grabs the mittens by the yarn and flies them across the room, saying she will “sprinkle them with some M&S Christmas magic” before they pull a Christmas cracker in front of a delicious-looking array of festive food.

Left and Right help hang some mistletoe and the Fairy accidentally sets one on fire while lighting the Christmas pudding in a montage of chaotic moments, before they declare 2023 the “best Christmas ever”.

Speaking in a statement, Vicar of Dibley actor French shared her excitement over being involved with the campaign.

“I’m so excited to be returning to my role as the Fairy this Christmas,” she said.

“It was a delight introducing them [McElhenney and Reynolds] to the joys of a British Christmas and a traditional fabulous festive feast.”
