Russell Westbrook’s top 10 games of the 2021-22 season: No. 10
Russell #Russell
On Jan. 23, with their best hope of contending for the NBA championship gone, the Los Angeles Lakers traveled to South Florida to take on the Miami Heat in the second game of a six-game road trip.
Anthony Davis had been out for over a month with a sprained MCL, and although LeBron James had been playing brilliantly, L.A. needed more from others, including Russell Westbrook.
Westbrook responded with a very efficient game, scoring 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line (although he missed all three of his 3-pointers).
His nine assists and nine rebounds versus just three turnovers also helped his team’s cause.
Unfortunately, the Lakers as a team didn’t show up when the game started.
They fell behind 32-14 late in the first quarter and trailed by as much as 26 before they started getting serious.
Westbrook helped lead a frantic fourth-quarter rally, scoring nine points and adding two assists during the period, but after coming to within four, the Lakers simply ran out of time, losing 113-107.
