“RTS is just a freak”: Jordan Rapana opens up on Tuivasa-Sheck try saver

Canberra winger Jordan Rapana has shared what he has learnt from that Roger Tuivasa-Sheck try saving play which handed the New Zealand Warriors a 34-31 victory over the Raiders in Round 3.

Rapana looked to be through in the final moments of the game until Tuivasa-Sheck knocked the ball out of his hand as he was set to score the match-winning try in the corner.

Rapana explained on SEN 1170 Breakfast what he learnt from the game, but admits he couldn’t have done much else to stop the fullback’s freakish try-saver.

“The first thing (I learnt) is to hold the ball in two hands,” Rapana said.

“Either carry it in the left hand or the safest bet and use both hands.

“But you know what, in saying that … I’m not trying to blow my trumpet here but nine times out of 10 I would’ve scored that every day of the week.

“But, ‘RTS’ is just a freak.

“I thought about it after the game as well, what I could have done better.

“There were a few things, but I still feel that he’s that much of a freak he probably would’ve somehow held me up anyway.”

While most of the NRL will miss Tuivasa-Sheck’s amazing try savers, Rapana will breathe a sigh of relief when the Kiwi departs at the end of the season to play Super Rugby for the Auckland Blues.
