Royal Mail Denies Takeover Talks

Royal Mail PLC on Thursday denied that it was in takeover talks.

The postal service and courier company was responding to a recent media interview whereby Communications Workers’ Union General Secretary Dave Ward indicated that the company was in secret talks with a private equity company.

“The company wishes to make clear that this is not true. We are involved in no such talks,” Royal Mail said.

Shares at 1108 GMT were down 7.10 pence, or 2.8%, at 250.30 pence having peaked at 263.10 pence earlier in the session.
