Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will need years if they want to “heal the hurt” inflicted on Kate Middleton, after the slew of “personal” attacks the Montecito-based couple directed at her.
Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe, speaking to New! magazine, explained that the allegations brought against the now-Princess of Wales by Meghan and Harry – especially those detailed in Harry’s memoir Spare – caused emotional damage.
He told the outlet: “Some of what Harry and Meghan have said, particularly about Kate, was so personal, and it’s going to take years to heal the hurt because of the damage that’s been done.”
In 2021, Meghan was rumoured to have made Kate “cry” over bridesmaids dresses, during preparations for the former Suits actress’ wedding to Harry. However, the California-born actress claimed it was actually the “reverse”.
It was also rumoured that St Andrews-educated Kate was branded as having a “baby brain” by Meghan, to the anger of both the now-Prince and Princess of Wales.
Royal commentator Duncan added: “It’s going to take more than an apology to fix the relationships.”
He explained that the relationships between the three could be “damaged” for the foreseeable future, noting that Kate and Prince William have little choice but to “swallow” the criticism levelled at them as they’re not in a position where they can respond.
