Roy Keane and Gary Neville can’t stop laughing in reaction to Graeme Souness’ Liverpool vs Man United prediction

Souness #Souness

Roy Keane and Gary Neville could barely contain their laughter when their Sky punditry colleague Graeme Souness confidently predicted a Liverpool win over Manchester United.

United head to Anfield today (Sunday, 4.30pm GMT kick-off) in excellent form, having won the Carabao Cup last weekend and with just one defeat in all competitions since November.

Erik ten Hag’s side are considered favourites by most for the game against Jurgen Klopp’s off-colour Liverpool today – which is a remarkable turnaround from the teams’ fortunes last season.

Liverpool beat United by a 9-0 aggregate scoreline over the two league games in 2021/22, but that now seems a long time ago, with Ten Hag’s men currently 10-points better off this season.

Liverpool have won just three of their past eight games, yet Souness believes the game against United is the perfect chance for Klopp’s men to prove their doubters wrong.

Speaking on Sky Sports to presenter Kelly Cates, the former Liverpool man said: “I think where Liverpool are right now, this game comes at the perfect time. What an opportunity to put a marker down, to shut all the doubting Thomases up, and damage United.

“I fully expect them to turn up today. And it’s a long time, Kelly, since I’ve been as confident about a Liverpool win against United as I am today. I just feel they’re going to turn up today.

“I think they’ll be bang up for it today. This is a difficult place for United to come.”

Souness’ confidence might well be misplaced. It looks like his Sky Sports colleagues Keane and Neville certainly think so judging from their reactions, as they struggled to contain their laughter when the camera panned to them.

Even Souness’ fellow former Liverpool ace Carragher seemed unsure as to his colleague’s prediction, letting out a cough and a sly look to the camera.
