Rogers and Fido wireless customers woke up to a surprising inconvenience Monday morning after a massive Canada-wide network outage left people unable to make calls or use the internet.

According to a tweet from RogersHelps, which manages customer care and technical support for the telecommunications company, some wireless customers reported service interruptions for voice and data services.

“Our team is working quickly to restore services as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to provide regular updates.” the tweet reads.

Some cities are warning residents over difficulty contacting emergency services.

Peel police advised callers that operators are unable to return 9-1-1 calls because of the outage. The City of Guelph is also warning residents trying to contact emergency services to use a landline instead.

Many took to social media to express frustration over the outage, some reporting services had been down since 2 a.m.

Parents reported having issues logging kids into online classes. The Durham Catholic District School Board warned parents may have issues connecting online.

Rogers Communications, which owns both Rogers Wireless and Fido Solutions, is the largest phone carrier in Canada with approximately 10.8 million subscribers.
