Roger Federer becomes oldest man to reach Wimbledon quarterfinals in Open Era

Tennis legend Roger Federer recently made history by becoming the oldest man in 46 years to reach the third round of Wimbledon.
The all-time great, who turns 40 years old next month, wasn’t finished there.
On Monday, Federer defeated Lorenzo Sonego 7-5, 6-4, 6-2 to become the oldest man to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals of the Open Era that began in 1968.
Federer will face either Hubert Hurkacz or Daniil Medvedev in the next round. That match was suspended earlier in the day due to the weather.
Also on Monday, world No. 1 Novak Djokovic became the fifth player to hit 50 career Grand Slam quarterfinals following a dominant win over Cristian Garin. Djokovic is one Grand Slam title away from tying the men’s record of 20 career Slams held by Federer and Rafael Nadal. Nadal isn’t playing at Wimbledon.
