Paying rich tributes to martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Khatkar Kalan today, Cabinet Minister Sunder Sham Arora said several works were being taken up by the state government at Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh Museum.
He named the road from Nawanshahr-Banga to Khatkar Kalan village as ‘Shaheed-E-Azam S Bhagat Singh Marg’. He also visited the gallery at the museum and the ancestral house of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan.
“The construction of a cafeteria, toilets and a parking lot, and development of tourist infrastructure at Khatkar Kalan at a cost of Rs 3.78 crore were in progress and likely to be completed by September 2021. Tenders had been invited for the installation of a rooftop solar energy system of 80 KW at the museum for Rs 33 lakh, and lighting of the building façade at Rs 18 lakh and both projects would be completed by June 2021,” the minister said.
Arora said Khatkar Kalan village was not merely a native place of Sardar Bhagat Singh but it was also a source of inspiration for the generation to come. The ‘Shardhanjali Samaroh’ was organised by the Punjab Government to commemorate the ‘Martyrdom Day’ . — TNS
