To say the past couple of years have been challenging would be an understatement. But the challenges ahead of us, particularly on the economy and world stage, call for a leader and prime minister with a proven track record of protecting our economy in the darkest of times.
I had been a MP only a few months when the pandemic hit. Within days, Rishi Sunak had put in place the most innovative response in the world; the furlough scheme. It saved 11.6 million jobs up and down the country, and nearly 50 per cent of all employee jobs in Rutland and Melton. The furlough scheme was a lifeboat for our communities.
