Rihanna has given birth to her first child with her boyfriend, rapper A$AP Rocky, according to multiple reports. TMZ said the 34-year-old “We Found Love” singer welcomed a baby boy on May 13 in Los Angeles with A$AP by her side.
A source told ET that the family is now resting as Rihanna’s L.A. home and plans to travel to New York soon to meet their extended families, including Rihanna’s family from Barbados.
“They have not left each other’s side,” the insider told ET. “They are over the moon. She’s been looking forward to motherhood for a longtime. This little boy is going to have the best baby fashion.”
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, announced she was pregnant in January by showing off her baby bump in a photo shoot in Harlem, where A$AP Rocky grew up. Fenty wore an oversized coat that was unbuttoned at the bottom to show her growing bump, adorned in a gold cross and jewels, while holding hands with the 33-year-old hip-hop star, whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers.
The couple made their public debt in September, attending the Met Gala together after a longtime friendship that led to romance rumors two years ago. Mayers called her “the love of my life” in a 2021 interview with GQ: “I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.”
Both are known for their music and fashion. Rihanna’s hits include “Umbrella,” “Rude Boy,” “Don’t Stop the Music,” “We Found Love” and “Diamonds,” and her lingerie brand Savage x Fenty recently secured $125 million for an expansion into retail stores. A$AP Rocky is known for tracks like “F—in’ Problems” and “Praise the Lord (Da Shine),” plus his ‘90s-inspired Guess collaboration called GUE$$.
The couple also made headline news in April when Mayers was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after a trip to Barbados with Fenty. He was detained on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, after allegedly firing a handgun at an acquaintance, who sustained a minor injury and sought medical treatment, in a 2021 shooting incident.
