Rick Ross & 2 Chainz Set for Next ‘Verzuz’ Battle, Timbaland Already Puts Up Call for the Following One

Chainz #Chainz

It’s settled: Rick Ross and 2 Chainz will go head-to-head in the next Verzuz battle on Thursday, Aug. 6.

The VerzuzTV Instagram account announced the latest pairing Tuesday (July 28) with a sleek black-and-red poster of a two-seater Verzuz-branded sports car. But mega hip-hop producer and Verzuz co-starter Timbaland is already asking frequent viewers and music lovers who should go for a spin after them. “What’s the next @verzuzonline ?!” the 48-year-old hitmaker wrote on Twitter Monday (July 27).

Some highly interested artists heeded the call, including Missy Elliott, who teased her frequent collaborator by suggesting a battle with herself. “Missy Vs Misdemeanor I’m just playin,” she replied with laughing emojis in regards to her famous nickname. But she did co-sign a fan’s Verzuz battle suggestion between female R&B groups SWV and Xscape by commenting, “Both these groups fire” with the flaming emojis.

Meanwhile, Juicy J stepped up to the plate and named his chosen opponent. “Juicy j vs Nas,” he replied today while quote-tweeting Timbaland’s original question. The Memphis-based rapper-producer and Three 6 Mafia founding member later suggested others feel “scared to battle me when I pull out that three 6 catalog it’s a wrap no cappuccino.”

Before Timbaland and Swizz Beatz officially tap the next two competitors, Rick Ross and 2 Chainz’s “high roller edition” of the Verzuz battles will premiere on Instagram Live and Apple Music on Aug. 6 at 8 p.m. ET.
