Richmond: CHP seeks I-580 hit-and-run suspect
Richmond #Richmond
RICHMOND — California Highway Patrol investigators were asking for drivers’ help in finding a suspect who fled an injury collision on Interstate 580 early Wednesday.
In a statement, the CHP said officers responded at 5:19 a.m., to the Bayview Avenue on-ramp to westbound I-580 lanes for a report of a vehicle and pedestrian collision.
When officers arrived, they learned that a CalTrans contractor had been preparing to shut down lanes for a construction crew detail when a dark-colored sedan struck the contractor and fled, the CHP said.
The contractor suffered major injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to a trauma center.
Anyone who saw the collision or its immediate aftermath or might be able to identify the suspect vehicle may call the CHP’s Oakland office at 510-457-2875.
