Richarlison joins forces with Brazilian medical researchers in fight against coronavirus
Richarlison has joined forces with medical researchers in Brazil in the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The Everton striker has become an ambassador at the University of Sao Paulo (USP) in an unique engagement to raise funds through a social media campaign called ‘Tabelinha de Craques’.
Its aim is to generate donations from footballers and sports stars towards the research into finding out more about Covid-19 at USP.

In a video shared to his 2.5million Twitter followers, Richarlison announced a new partnership
Richarlison, who has 2.5million followers on Instagram and more than 280,000 on Twitter, will also use these platforms to promote information about scientific and medical research at the university in the hope of inspiring scientists of the future.
‘We always had the image of heroes linked to sport, music and entertainment but today we are learning about other stars who are in the front line, risking their own lives to save those of so many other people,’ said the 22-year-old Brazil international.
‘It is time to value and encourage our researchers, scientists and everyone who is fighting the Covid-19.’
USP is the leading university in Brazil. Its researchers did the COVID-19 genome sequencing in only two days after the first case in the country. The global average is a fortnight.

‘I can’t imagine what’s going on in the heads of these brilliant guys,’ smiled Richarlison. ‘But I will do my best to promote the importance of their work for our daily lives.’
Last year, the Everton star returned to Brazil to address the Parliament of his home state Espirito Santo about the importance of investing in medical science.
He also provided financial support for students from his hometown of Nova Venecia to attend the International Mathematical Olympiad in Taiwan.
Richarlison moved to the Premier League when he joined Watford in 2017 and signed for Everton a year later in a transfer worth up to £50m.
