Recently, Mia Thornton’s The Real Housewives of Potomac co-stars Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant called her out over her cancer scare but were wrong to do so. In February 2022, Mia shared on Instagram about her cancer scare. In the post, she revealed that her doctor told her to visit Johns Hopkins Cancer Center for further evaluation. Mia explained that she became overwhelmed by emotion as she figured out why the doctor told her to do so.
Despite her worries, Mia assured her fans that she was working with a phenomenal team of physicians and thanked them for their support. A month after the post, Mia shared an update on her health condition. She said she wasn’t diagnosed with cancer but still undergoing testing and would surgically remove two lumps for a biopsy. However, while many fans offered Mia messages of support, her RHOP co-stars, including Robyn and Gizelle, felt differently about her message.

Mia’s health scare dominated discussions during the RHOP season 7 premiere episode. Most of Mia’s co-stars said they felt she sought attention with her cancer scare post. The episode ended with Gizelle confronting Mia about the matter, leading to an argument between them. Gizelle and Robyn also spoke to Us Weekly and explained why they doubted Mia’s cancer scare. Robyn felt it was odd to share that kind of information prematurely. At the same time, Gizelle said everything is not for social media and that serious matters like cancer should not be played with. However, despite their reasons for feeling the way they did, Gizelle and Robyn were wrong to call their co-star out.
Mia Thornton Doesn’t Crave Attention On RHOP
One of the reasons many RHOP ladies felt Mia shared her cancer scare with the world was for attention. However, that is very far from the truth. Mia, who wanted Candiace Dillard fired from RHOP, is in her second season as a full-time cast member and is getting as much attention as she needs just by being on the show. She is also quickly becoming a fan favorite, which was evident by the ways fans supported her during her health scare. Mia is also a business owner, a proud mother of three, and has over 135k Instagram followers. Therefore, the insinuation that she was seeking attention with her post is laughable.

Robyn and Gizelle also insinuated that Mia misled many people with her health scare and shouldn’t have posted about it until she was sure of her diagnosis. However, their words show they only looked at the matter from one angle. When Mia’s doctor told her to go for further evaluation at the cancer center, she felt so many emotions. If Mia, whose been called a pathological liar, felt the best way to go about it at the time was to share the news with her fans on social media, Mia was within her rights to do so and owed no one an explanation. The RHOP star clearly pointed out in her post that she was yet to be officially diagnosed with the disease. Gizelle and Robyn are trivializing the matter and were oblivious to Mia’s feelings.

After watching the RHOP season 7 premiere episode and the argument between Mia and Gizelle, many fans took to social media to share their thoughts. Many of the fans slammed Gizelle for calling Mia out and questioning her about her cancer scare. They also applauded Mia for the way she stood up to Gizelle, who remains a RHOP fan favorite. One fan on Twitter said Gizelle was wrong for coming at Mia the way she did. Another noted that Gizelle’s comments to Mia were out of line. A third user, @THEMISSMIAMI, wrote, “[…] If you don’t personally know the pain of having a cancer scare, don’t talk about how someone else handles it. […] Giselle accusing her of attention seeking without having all the info was sick and twisted.”

Gizelle Bryant & Robyn Dixon Were Insensitive To Mia Thornton On RHOP
If there is one thing Real Housewives have in common, it is their affinity for drama. Gizelle and Robyn were likely all about the drama when they talked about their reasons for doubting Mia’s cancer scare. However, the ladies were insensitive toward their co-star’s feelings. In a recent interview with Essence, Mia revealed the period she had the cancer scare was the hardest time of her life. She also said it was a trying time in her marriage as Mia’s husband, Gordon Thornton, was scared and worried for his wife. Even after Mia was cleared of potentially having cancer, it took the couple a while to get back to their normal routine.
