The “chaotic” RETRIBUTION stable has made its official debut as the stable of six (five men, one woman) considerably undersized athletes ran amok of the WWE Performance Center in a scene that is sure to draw comparisons to the (superior) Nexus debut.
After a week of by-design technical difficulties on main roster programming, WWE paid off its tease of a mystery stable as various masked individuals in black hoodies toting chainsaws assaulted members of WWE personnel. From using spraypaint for vandalism to vigilantes dressed in black, RETRIBUTION came off as a retread sure to fail in an administration that betrays its new ideas like their characters in a Greek tragedy.
WWE previously announced a new stable was set to “cause chaos and shake up the organization’s structure” this past Monday on Raw, but what amounted was a series of technical errors and footage of a radical group throwing a Molotov Cocktail at a power generator.
After WWE toyed around with another controversial idea in the form of Raw Underground, one can only imagine what Vince and Co. have in store for his newest toys.
With rumors of a new stable circulating earlier in the week, some felt this could be the rumored Nation of Domination reboot as reports surfaced last month of a potential reunion following an appearance from Ron Simmons. These plans were reportedly scrapped, with MVP even expressing his dismay with the concept in a modern-day WWE:
“No, no, the short answer is no,” said MVP of a Nation of Domination reboot on an episode of Say Less with Kaz and Lowkey.
“You know, because I’ve been hearing the chatter and I’ve been seeing that and I don’t want to do the new anything you know. The Nation was done, it was awesome and the time it was done. It was needed you know, stars were made. I don’t want to rehash something else. I want to bring something new and I don’t necessarily in our approach to The Hurt Business. Me and Bobby as you know, are legitimate friends. Like away from wrestling, we boys. Shelton is one of my closest friends. I just like making money with my friends you what I’m saying.”
The identity of the RETRIBUTION members remains unknown, however with viewership numbers in the toilet as live sports return in an election year, WWE needs as many new ideas as it can handle.
