The Boston Celtics are reportedly finalizing a trade for Orlando Magic wing Evan Fournier for two second-round draft picks, according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 28-year-old Fournier is earning $17 million this season on an expiring deal while putting up 19.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game will join the Celtics, per the ESPN insider. Yahoo Sports’ Keith Smith relates Boston is still pursuing an Aaron Gordon deal separately, with the details of both still fuzzy. Armed with a $28.5 million traded player exception generated by veteran forward Gordon Hayward’s decampment in the offseason and a variety of moveable young and veteran players, the Celtics have a variety of ways to get to there.
Smith also reports the team may delay the deal to try and make it part of a bigger package.
Expect frequent updates to this and perhaps additional stories as Boston makes its trade deadline plans evident.
