We now have some more clarity on what the Wizards can expect when they travel down to Orlando, FL next month for the NBA’s restart.
According to The Athletic, they will get three scrimmages before the regular season begins. That means they will be guaranteed at least 11 games; three to prepare and eight in the regular season. They could end up playing more if they qualify for the play-in tournament and the playoffs.
Also according to The Athletic, the Wizards will be staying in the Yacht Club resort at Disney World. The hotel arrangements were based on team record and seeding. With the worst record of the 22 teams invited, the Wizards were put in a group with the Blazers, Pelicans, Suns, Spurs and Kings.

The Yacht Club is the full Disney World experience. Their website includes in-room celebrations with Disney characters among the amenities. There is also bass fishing, a pirate cruise, a pool and tennis courts. So, the Wizards and whoever travels with them will have plenty to do when they aren’t playing basketball.
The NBA is planning to resume games on July 30. Teams will travel to Orlando in early July and begin with training camp. Then, the scrimmages will commence.
The inclusion of an additional preseason should help to get players up to speed and potentially also help prevent injuries. One of the concerns many have voiced is the idea these players will get back going with high-intensity games after over four months off.
It’s only three games, but it should help.
